Your University Needs You!
This is the plan for this years road varsity.
Wednesday 30th March - Hill Climb leaving at 1.30pm
Meet at the Arts Tower at 1.30pm, together with Sheffield Hallam Scum and ride out to Beeley (should take about an hour to ride out). We do this route - from the 'Welcome to Beeley' sign to the top of the hill (straight on at the top). We will set off every minute (Hallam Scum then uni then Hallam Scum, uni, etc.) and the top five best times from each university will be totaled and the lowest overall time wins the HC. Dave got confused with which hill is Chatsworth road - he meant Beeley. This gives you on idea on how long the climb takes to ride.
Wednesday 6th April - ITT leaving at 11.30am
We will meet at the arts tower at *11.30am* and ride out to Tideswell (again should take about an hour to ride to the start). Ride an *Individual TT* on this route (similar to last year). Again we will set off in alternating order (uni, Hallam Scum, etc) at two minute intervals. We will stop just before Litton at the 30mph signs. Again the best five times from each university will be totaled and the lowest team total wins the ITT.
No start times - I'll put up a start order when I know whose riding and we'll start the HC/ITT when we are all there. Each event is 50% of the road cycling total and road cycling accounts for 35% of the overall cycling varsity score.
Please indicate below which events you intend to ride (you can just ride one if you want). If you don't want to ride please post up if you could be a marshal (again for just one event or both) or just turn up to cheer us on!
BTW - on saturday morning i'll be going out to ride the Beeley HC - Be at the arts tower at 9.30am. Let me know if you want to ride. I'll also probably be riding the ITT course the following saturday (2nd Apr.) but more details about that next week.
Everyone crystal? Any questions let me know and again please indicate below which events you intend to ride.
John.
