Right guys,
I shall be getting my road racing license for next year soon and booking myself into a number of events (full list posted soon!). Should be doing:
Majority of Darley Moor BUCS road race BUCS 10-mile TT and maybe team (anyone?) A load of other races in the Eastern Road Race League
It would be good if anyone else road racing can post up a list of the events they are intending/going to be doing so we can all collaborate on transport and most potentially.....tactics!
Hope you all had a good Christmas!
J5
P.S. Is it worth paying the extra £30 to get a GOLD membership and license??? - Don't really want to be paying £90+ on top of all the race fees if I don't have to!!

I'm going to be getting a licence too mate and be tackling the notorious 4th cat lol. Are you there too?. Definitely up for all the one's you have listed as well (even the ERRL ones if could get down there), just to build up the experience. I was looking at No 1 Darley Moor only last night in fact, and as soon as back up in Shef (tomorrow) will be sorting it out. Would be great to have someone else in the peloton to work with!
As far as I know, Gold membership is just the addition of Personal Injury cover and a load of freebies, and of course you can get this personal injury cover cheaper elsewhere. So I personally won't be getting it, however, I may have missed something so someone else might be able to add something...

i wouldn't worry about gold membership, like Jerome said all u get is personal injury insurance and a free calender handbook of all the races (which you get on-line for free anyway) personal injury insurance is just an additional form of insurance cover providing death, permanent disability and hospital benefits. All you need is at least silver membership to be able to race, and be insured as well for accidents www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/article/memst-new-what-members-get

Cheers Jamie, went and bought the Silver the other day. Me...you...Eastern Road Race League...you're on! You coming back to do my local race on the 20th March Jamie...Regional A at Ipswich...I'll even take you round the course if you want, it's one of my local TT courses about 6 miles from my house?

By the way, anyone who hasn't renewed/got their race licence and membership this year...promotional code of 'club4' when you get it. Paid £54 for silver and licence instead of £68.

Well done to Ben today who got 2nd in the Sheffrec RR, awesome result!
Had a "bad legs" day today in the Ken Wright Memorial 2/3/4 down in Essex, faaaasssst pace at 26mph average, employed a few MTB skills after being forced off the road a couple of times, but somehow managed to pick my way through to 11th in the sprint for a bit of consolation. No 2nd cat for me this week, so next week is going to be all guns blazing!
Well done again to Andy also for picking up his first points of the season...a good Sheffield weekend I feel!

I'd like to try some racing, but I know nothing about it! Can anyone recommend a good one to start with? Any general tips?

Well done boys indeed!! Cracking results! Best way would be to do a couple of club TT's first with Sheffrec or something, and look for little races... I'd suggest getting a day-licence from British Cycling which allows you to race one race, you collect no points but get the experience... check out the BC website clara
