Numerous paths out the back of Crookes down into the Rivelin Valley... multimapSome are footpaths, several are just tracks through the trees. Then up the Rivelin and A57 to Rivelin dams / Wymingbrook drive (itself boring, but has some much more interesting paths in the woods above the main "road") Or, A57-Coldwell Lane-Moorbank Road: more multimapAt the end of Moorbank, Coppice road is a byway from which, if you're not bothered about the distinction between long and short red dashes on a map, theres some plenty fun singletrack through the trees behind the golf course. Take the first left you come to (up some steps). More or less on a countour but enough gradient to make it fun. Note that "fun" also includes the possibility of a 30-foot drop in places. again...Then cross Lodge Lane (steep twisty yellow road), continue on the countour-ish bridleway and then, er, the "bridleway" drawn with short red dashes at the southern edge of the woods. The dots run out but the path doesn't and will take you to the top of Wymingbrook drive. Again there's a couple of options of big drops if you point in the wrong direction. and yet more! From there it depends on time available - only a couple of miles from Stanage, or there's the Redmires conduit (north from the dam wall of the upper Redmires res. - near the '351' spot height). The conduit's flat but after you turn off it towards the A57 you can go to the A57 or turn right again back to Wymingbrook. Both descents have things to commend them. bored of multimap yet?Or, with a couple of miles back-street road work through Fulwood you can get over to the Porter valley near Forge Dam then up to Ringinglow / Houndkirk / Burbage. Plenty of options.

What he said.
I've done loads of night rides around there this year and I'm still finding new bits to ride.
A pretty robust variation is: down through Bolehills, along Rivelin, up Wyming Brook, along to Porter Clough/Brook to the top of the Parks and a warm down on the roads back to Walkley
Another alternative (and very local to me) is Loxley Common. Not a huge ride but fun all the same.
Give me a bell sometime and I'll show you (some of) the routes.

I like heading out to do Dore drop (but then I live in Hunters Bar), so if anyone fancies it at any point let us know!
I've headed out about 6pm in the past.
