OK maybe a bit early...
On the Weekend of 5th November I'm taking a bunch of mates for a weekend riding in the Peak.
Starting from Edale on Saturday we'll head around Ladybower and Hope and on the Sunday we'll be doing a loop over to Hayfield coming back over Jacob's Ladder.
If anyone wants to tag along then let me know.
Alternatively if anyone wants to know what routes I'm using for future reference then get in touch for that too.

If I'm not too busy with the PGCE, then I'm interested Col.

Hey Col. I could be up for something along those lines. Might be a good chance to get new people from the club into some more difficult rides if they wanted to go. Have you made any plans yet?
let me know

Matt - I'm arranging it for a bunch of my friends mostly from MTB-wales.com website.
The rides won't be good for beginners, they'll be reasonably long (but not massive) and I am planning to take in some of the more technical descents, but if people are up for that then it should be really good fun.
I think I'll have a group of between 12 & 20 people so a few more won't make a big difference but if we get a lot more then the number will be a bit unmanageable and we will need to split the group.
It might be a better idea to have a couple of people along and then repeat the rides (or versions of them) with just the club - especially if the bunkhouse idea works well.
Cheers
Col

Yeh it would be cool if you could check it out for the club because that weekend there's a give it a go ride planned on that sunday so it would be a bit of a clash.

Yep! I've now pre-ridden both routes and tagged onto someone elses group ride to get an idea of the speed/hassles etc.
Final details by the weekend.

OK Here's the details Due to shortage of daylight both rides will start reasonably early. 8:00am starts from the layby here should give us enough time for the ride on Sat including a cafe stop (maybe two depending on speed) and should mean people won't be driving back on Sunday too late. People not staying at the YHA should be able to park nearby, there is usually some free parking a short roll away here and there is always the pay and display parking in Edale village. Saturday's ride will be heading out from Edale to Hope cross - down to the A57 and up past Rowlee farm to lockerbrook. from Lockerbrook down to the reservoir and then to Fairholmes for refreshements. Back up to Lockerbrook down Hagg farm along the side of the reservoir then up to Aston, past Twitchill farm to the roman road and down into hope (poss another cafe stop). Back roads to Castleton up the broken road and down the first descent from mam nick back to Edale. Sunday's ride will be up to Hollins Cross along to Mam nick. Rushup edge and then along to mount famine and dropping into Hayfield. up out of Hayfield to Middle Moor down to Kinder reservoir back over to Edale Cross and the descent of Jacobs back to Edale.

I might be tempted by Sunday, if you don't mind, bearing in mind I've not done an all day type epic for a long time. Need to get practising though - I quite fancy that Scottish 24hr race in January....

Si no problem, we're* not going to be going that fast - especially after a long Saturday ride.
*I can't talk for the others but I know that I for one won't be going fast and it is *my* ride afterall so they can hardly leave me behind.
