First i want to make an apology for not being out riding over the last few months, but now i've got my new frame i've got no excuess, except for this wed and sun. I've already made plans sorry. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Instead i'm gonna do a ride on saturday and as you can guess from the title i'm planning BIG. not sure about a time or meeting place yet but the intention is the high peak challenge that was an mbuk route a while back. Basically: edale - snake pass - top of snake pass - back of glossop - woodhead reservoirs - cut gate - ladybower - bamford when i've done it before we took the train out to edale and back from bamford and was about 45 ish miles, but can be edited for ease and meeting up and stuff. so who fancies it? might be good training for anyone entering the nationals. post your interest up here and spread the word.

Yeah, i'll be up for that too- need a good excuse to actually force me to do a decent length ride. 45 winter miles.... should be easy!

Killer, no one ever said that you couldn't come on club rides just that only students could do the student nationals. Which I thought was fair to everyone.

matt, have you got anymore ideas as to the 'logistics' of the ride like meeting up or driving out if there's anyone willing to take cars. The train usually restricts the number of bikes to about 3-4. ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png)

ah ha! sorry mate, i would go into a long run of excuses about having too much work, not feeling well, tired, bike not performing as i would like, tyres needed pumping, mud guards needed moving, brakes adjusting, headset tightening, chain lubing. But i wont. I just couldnt be arsed. Too cold. Outside bad, inside good. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

With the trains not running we should drive out to a starting place. Riding would take too long.
I've got a car that can fit 3 including bikes. haven't tried a forth but might be possible. As it stands ( me dave killer and will) the lada should cope. Can anyone offer their services if needed? killer?
As for a starting time, how about 9.30 to leave for 10 at the arts tower. If that sounds too early tough, bring the hangover with you and sleep it off in the car. last time i did this it took about 7 hours at a slowish pace. That shold give us just enough time to make it back to the car.
The only pit stops on the way will be glossop and ladybower cafe, so the usual kit and food is needed.
Can't find the route on the web but it was in mbr octo 2003 if anyone wants to look it up
think thats all for now.
see you saturday

Matt
when you did the ride before was it in the dry or wet? Its just that if you did it in the dry in 7hrs, it could take longer at the mo given the general cack conditions, and leaving shef at 10 could be cutting it fine given it get darks at 5ish. I'm no fan of early morning starts, but it may be worth trying to leave a bit earlier if we're doing a proper winter epic?

I'll come and I can bring a car as well. If anyone needs a lift, let me know. We need to start early though, like leaving at 9 and starting the ride for 10. Have we decided where to start from yet.
