Manchester Velodrome TripWith the National Cycling Centre just over the Peak District we thought we would organise a trip to Manchester Velodrome for something exciting to do at the end of term when the nights really start to draw in and the weather leaves something to be desired. We have hired the Velodrome, and a profesional coach to do a beginner lesson in track cycling. We will get an hour of actual track time, which will be more than enough to get your first taste of track and hopefully wet your appetite for more. We are also putting on a minibus to drive everyone over to Manchester together. Date: Wednesday 15th December Place: Arts Tower Time: 3pm - 8pm Cost: £13 payable to the club Max: 16 people Extra Costs (on the day): Shoe Hire - £4.20 Bike Hire - £9.90 Note - these are student prices, so you will need your ucard/NUS card otherwise it will cost more. If you have road shoes, you need look keo cleats, which can be bought for £8 on ebay, so if you plan on going again it may be worth investing. Places are limited to 16 people (in the minibus and on the track) so first come first serve. You will not be confirmed a place until we have recieved the money. We will start collecting money from the Freshers Social. I look forward to seeing you all there, it should be really fun, we may even find a few future champions! This won't be the last Ed, are you back next term? If this goes well (which I think it will, its almost a sold out already) then we will do more, and they will be bigger and better.

How annoying - From reading the website it appears the pedals on bikes at the velodrome are LOOK DELTA compatible and not keos. £4 shoe hire or £7.95 off ebay. Black = No float, Grey = 4.5 o float and red = 9 o float

Hi all, So its finally time for the Velodrome trip on Wednesday. As mentioned, we will be traveling in cars. Before then we need to sort out bike hire and make sure everyone is aware of the pedals:
''The Velodrome's bikes are fitted with Look style Delta pedals (the fitting and use of other pedals is not permitted) Riders with alternative shoes/plates can either hire shoes from our reception or use toe-clip style adapters. Look Keo cleats on riders own shoes cannot be used.''
Frame size - we need to order frames for hire bikes at the latest on Monday.. If you are taking your own bike - please let us know. If not, read on... As a rough guide, bike frame sizes should be determined as inside leg measurement less 10 inches A guide to frame sizes:
